Young ones love to see plants growing, and this programme provides an ideal introduction to gardening for children in nursery schools. The projects are designed to engage their interest with fun activities and easily achieved results. We supply fast-growing seeds and bulbs, and eye-catching accessories such as windmill markers and watering cans. The children get involved in the projects by watering the plants, decorating vases and pots, and looking after garden birds. We provide compost, pots, trays and patio troughs so there is no requirement for planting space outside.

This stage of the programme engages the interest of young schoolchildren by giving them the thrill of growing their own plants. It encourages them to observe the different parts of a plant through painting and art exercises. Pupils are introduced to the concept of plants as part of a food chain involving all animals, including man - and the importance to us of healthy eating. Children have fun growing spicy peppers and giant sunflowers, and on their own ‘mini-beast safari’.

This stage of the programme is designed to meet the needs of pupils in classes 3-6. The activities build a fuller understanding of plants and how they grow, in the contexts of the local environment and world habitats. Classroom activities are integrated with visits to habitats and gardens, and make use of the Internet. Innovative projects - extracting dyes, studying animal tracks, and growing fun plants like cacti and fly-trays - keep the children stimulated and challenged.
